The legacy [I hope] I leave will be a safe place to live where there’s little room for excuses but overwhelming love, great victories, and failings followed by great leaps.
There needs to be a place that makes you your best and forgives your worst; an actual physical place and a mental space you carve out it your heart.
I followed the Jorgensen family to Grandma’s house in Cache Valley – the kind of country where you have to fight the urge to pull over and drink in the green of the grass if you want to make it from here to anywhere. And when I opened the gate to Grandma’s front yard it said, “welcome home” even though it had never met me before.
You know, I’ve never been a popular person, still I’ve always been tied to choice friends who brought intense love and support a crowd cannot match.
The mother from this birth story is one of those kindred spirits that has born with patience my voice immodulation disorder, and boldly shared her heart and perspective. Seeing the images from the welcome delivery of her fifth child laid out here, I remember how her home was filled up with love, and how there’s no better way to describe her than that.
And YOU are here, so I know you too are guided by the wisdom of love. You are about beautifying your realm of influence, and you can’t bear to let go of delicious moments without some attempt to bottle them up. You understand that little things can be great things and each encounter with others is an exchange of experience.
I feel ya, and I know it takes all your energy to give so much, but the times you can see what all your efforts add up to are pretty great aren’t they?
I can’t help but sleep lightly when I know I have a birth story on the horizon and the baby could come anytime, but when the day finally arrives, the experience always exceeds my expectations and I am overcome with emotion. During this birth story I was especially struck by the sense of community and support that was present. I was so touched by the tenderness I was able to capture between this new mom and dad, the love they showed for one another was a joy to witness. The kindness they extended to the hospital staff and family, and received in return, was equally sweet. It was a long day (most of all for that strong mama), but it ended with the arrival of a darling little boy and endless cranberry juice so all is well.
